Alicante is a historic city located on the Costa Blanca, where ancient architecture blends with the more modern. Alicante’ s old town, El Barrio, has narrow streets, colourful houses and a busy nightlife. From here, you can walk or take the elevator to the medieval Castillo de Santa Bárbara, an ancient fortress, which has become a symbol of the city. It is located almost 200 metres above sea level. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast, the harbour and the city. Apart from this hilltop area, Alicante is quite flat and easy to explore on foot.
